  3. Research Roundtable Forums                                       Location:  MPR   10:00 A -12:00 P
    Collaborate with peers in a friendly and supportive environment to develop your research interest or get feedback on papers:

    • “Shark Tank” Alumni Research Proposals –  Each alumni researcher will have 10 minutes to present a 1-Page research idea outlining a problem, significance, background, and proposed research approach followed by 10-15 minutes of discussion with other alumni researchers and faculty for ideas on possible collaboration, methodology, data sources, and theoretical frameworks.
    • Formal Research Review and Comment –  Alumni with written drafts of articles or research will present their drafts (in advance and at the forum) to other alumni and faculty for detailed constructive feedback in a “doctoral-like” consortium.
  4. Lunch:   Talk by Gabe Beltran                   Location:  MPR   12:00 P -1:15 P

    • Excellent opportunity for alumni in this consortium to network between themselves and students from the doctoral consortium.
  5. Workshop I: Publishing as a Practitioner                     Location:  MPR 1:15 P – 2:45 P
    Hear from others about self-publishing, writing case studies, and journal alternatives focused on practitioners:

    • The How To’s of Book Publishing:  For Profit & Self-Publishing, sources for information
    • Teaching Case Studies as an outlet for publication
    • EMR and other academic practitioner journals
    • Other forms and outlets- MUMA Review, blogs, syndicated columns

    Thinking about a career change? Explore the trials and joys of work in academia, as a volunteer, consultant, or start up:

    • Consulting –  Starting up, finding clients, joys & agonies
    • Entrepreneur –  Starting up, finding capital, joys & agonies
    •  Nonprofits- Sources for positions, joys & agonies
  8. Workshop IIIA: Creating Your Elevator Speech      Location:  MPR    4:30 P – 5:30 P
    Learn how your peers and help new graduates answer the awkward question, “So you have your doctorate, when are you quitting?” and “I guess you want to teach?”:

    • Present yourself and your degree as effectively and quickly as possible
    • Designed for “first-time” participants (open also to students in doctoral consortium)
  9. Workshop IIIB:  Responding to Reviewer Comments
    Through real life examples learn how to effective respond to editors and reviewers in the peer review process:

    • Examples of Reviewer comments
    • How to respond when Comments conflict
    • Designed for those who have published or plan to publish
